The Adult Swim Tik Tok Trend Brings Out The Best Of The Platform

EACH MONTH BRINGS A NEW PLETHORA OF TIK TOK TRENDS - yet each sends to go away just as fast as the last. In our fast-paced digital age these trends come and go faster than ever before, and viewers quickly move forward from them. Yet the latest Adult Swim trend seems to be something special. 

Inspired by Adult Swim’s “bumps”, the Cartoon Network segment has invited their viewers to take their shot. These bumps serve as transition clips between commercial breaks and featured programming, and include short films, brief textual sequences or time-lapses that all end with the Adult Swim logo.

Whether or not the trend is a marketing campaign for Adult Swim (and if so, they nailed it), it’s allowed creatives a unique opportunity to pay homage to the segment. This trend gives creators a formula to break people’s visual dictionaries, allowing wiggle room for some unexpected outcome or element in each video. Instead of sticking to a set of guidelines or a specific narrative, the creators instead take their stab at the cheeky tone and charming aesthetic Adult Swim has grown to emulate. 

This trend truly brings out the best of Tik Tok, as the platform gets to serve as a democratic playing field for anyone to get creative. The best thing about this trend is it’s impossible for it to get old, as no two videos are the same. Comments on these videos are often filled with positivity and praise for the user’s creativity.

The soundtrack to the trend, Vano’s wildly addicting “Running away”, seems to bring a sense of nostalgia for an experience you haven’t yet had, and each time you hear it that special feeling strikes. You’ll find the simple lines “Running away is easy, It's the leaving that's hard” on repeat in your head, and you may even find yourself putting on the 10-minute loop version. 

Though each day there seems to be hundreds, if not thousands, incredible Adult Swim Tik Toks uploaded every day, so we’ve put together some of our favorite we’ve seen down below.
